Pumpkin Winner - I did not forget!

Hey friends! I did not forget.. .lol! And my phone alarm kept screamin at me all day and all night.

We got home after 10 pm last night from work and clothes shopping for my man.  He was in "desperate" need of new work clothes.  I've been working on training him in the fine art of clothes shopping and buying clothes more than once per year, but... we must have gotten sidetracked somewhere, lol! Anyway.. we enjoyed a delightful dinner at PF Chang's and then hit the stores.   I managed to sneak in a stop to Tai Pan (home decor schtuff) and picked up a glittery black tin star and glittery orange BOO to hang in my front door wreath for Halloween. :)

Anyway.. without further adieu... (or whatever).... the winner of the random drawing from the comments is:

#7 is Carolyn Sharkas!!!
Carolyn - just pop me an email (click on the link) and I will pop this pumpkin in the mail to ya!

Back to School!

Oh man, it's been a while since I've blogged. We've had a busy couple of weeks and have made some progress on our house project. Tomorrow I hope to paint my studio! WAHOOOO! Brent dug out some of my crafting stuff from the guest room and we started putting the family room back together. Hopefully on Sunday (a break from construction) I will have a few minutes to sit down and create something. I have a neat tutorial that I am working on to share with you sometime next week, too!

In the meantime......

"It's the MOST wonderful time of the year!"

It's back to school time, yay! My friends' kids are all back in school this week, which means many of my friends will have a little more time to do fun stuff without chasing little ones all day... It also means a big change in routines for many families. We were talking about this a few weeks ago on the Sweet N Sassy Stampers Yahoo group. Here is my contribution:

"My little girl 'homeschools'... year round :)

She's up by 6:30 & jets to the potty before dad leaves for work.

She's back in bed by 6:35 until I haul outta bed between 7:30 and 8:00.

We have PE for about 20 mins or so playing tug of war with her rope and chase around the house until I run out of steam and eat breakfast around 8:45 or 9:00.

She lays around and watches cars (Driver's Ed) until about 12 when it's potty break, treat, and then naptime.

We have PE again after lunch when she chases the neighborhood kids around before they jump in the pool and then she's back under a shade tree for her 2nd nap or sometimes she goes on a Nature Walk and checks out the birds and the wasps in the garden, occasionally trampling the flowers and I remind her of "Leave No Trace".

After her Nature Walk, it's back to another nap which is followed by a repeat session of Driver's Ed on the back of the couch as she watches for Dad to return home.

As soon as Dad walks in the door, she's all over him for an Anatomy lesson as she paws him to death because she's so excited to see him. Anatomy is followed by a lesson in Discipline and Proper Greeting Etiquette.

The rest of the day is filled with play, more naps, treats, and hanging out.

She's off to bed by 9:00-9:30 without any complaints....

Did I mention my girl is a border collie? :) "

What are some of your "back to school tradtions" and what is your day like?
Leave me a note and this Monday Tuesday I might just draw a name for something fun
from my stash* for you to play with while the kids are in class!

*I found that I have something "Fiskalicious" in my stash that is a duplicate of something I already have... I must have forgotten that I picked it up a while back and I've long since tossed the receipt... I think you'll like it!

We Have Some Winners!

It's late and I am EXHAUSTED... The bathroom is on it's way back to some semblance of normal and we've got the kitchen base cabinets and appliances back in the kitchen... well except the kitchen sink. I purchased a nifty new black one and the old faucet doesn't work, and you can't use Plumbers Putty on granite... ugh... so back to Lowes we go tomorrow!

The flooring arrived at 1:28 pm. We heard a big rumble and the dog went wild... Sure enough there was the UPS Freight truck with 2,040 lbs of wood flooring for us! WAHOO! 20 boxes that weighed 102 lbs each! (Not so wahoo.) Anyhow... we got it all unloaded from the truck with the help of the UPS man (paying the $29 for lift gate service was well worth it) and with the help of a couple of neighborhood kids we got it unloaded from the pallet and stacked neatly in the garage until we get the livingroom cleaned out and can stack it in the house to climatize to the house. This weekend is jam packed with InkStak building so sometime next week we can start laying down the hardwood. I AM SO STOKED!

The winners are:

1.) What time will the wood flooring arrive? I'm going to guess 8:35 a.m. because if it is shipping early it will probably arrive early in the morning too.

2.) How much does my shipment of wood flooring weigh (US pounds)? 2000 pounds

Your flooring will arrive at 1:23pm and I have no idea how much that would weigh, but I'll guess 625 lbs. Good luck with all of your remodling.

CONGRATULATIONS to the winners and thank you to everyone for playing along! Heather and Juli, if you will send me an email with your information I will get these out to you!

It's All About Numbers.... A Guessing Game

Well, we're making a HUGE DENT in the house projects and this means I am that much closer to getting back to paper crafting, which I am MISSING IMMENSELY!!! The walls in the basement are patched and drying. The carpet has been re-stretched in the family room and some of the office furniture has been moved from upstairs back down into the family room. (We still have to put the baseboard trim back up, but it was 11 pm when we'd finished stretching the carpet and couldn't run the air compressor.) We need to finish repairing the walls and retexture them and then PAINT... and then we'll work on replacing the flooring down there and hopefully soon we can be back to normal!

The tile is done in the kitchen and the front bathroom is started, YAY! We spent the weekend pushing ourselves hard to get the old flooring ripped out (along with 8 zillion staples from the old subfloor under the vinyl) and hauled to the dump, then we spent a full day prepping and laying down a new Hardibacker subfloor and two days laying out and setting the tile. We're beat! Our furry little supervisor didn't even break a sweat! Must be nice!!

Our wood flooring that was supposed to be here the first week of August is going to be here TOMORROW... sometime tomorrow. We're three weeks not ready for it.. YIKES! Talk about some EXCELLENT customer service! We bought the flooring from www.FloorOne.com and so far we've had a good experience. I'll let you know the final results once the flooring actually shows up.

So, this brings me to the Guessing Game..... I was at the Provo Craft Outlet Store in Orem after work one day last week and picked up a couple of fun things to give away. I picked up some ArtAccentz glitter/mini beads/microbeads by Provo Craft & some "ready to bling out" double sided stickers by Making Memories and I had some packs of American Crafts Velvet Thickers on hand... fun, fun, fun!!

AND....... HOLY MOLY BATMAN! I logged on to write this post and this is what I saw... check out the lower right hand side...
THANK YOU READERS & FRIENDS! WOWZA!!!!

Now back to our regular programming....

Here's how you can take a chance at winning..... I will choose the winners on Wednesday night after we've had some time to recover from the chaos....

Leave a comment on this post with your guesses for the following questions:

1.) What time will the wood flooring arrive?
2.) How much does my shipment of wood flooring weigh (US pounds)?

I have two prizes to give...

This one goes to the person who guesses the closest TIME:

Winners, Winners, WIIIIIINNNNNNNNERS!!!

YES! You read correctly! I said WinnerS, plural!

I was supposed to announce A winner last night... but as you all know, it was Super Tuesday, time for Primary Elections! Well, to make a long and negative story short..... I waited in line for 2.5 hours to vote. TWO & A HALF hours to spend literally ONE MINUTE sliding my card in the machine and choosing a candidate and casting the ballot..... I was sooo annoyed and we got home so stinking late...

SO, "they say" if you want to feel better about something, do something nice for someone... SO, instead of ONE random winner, we have TWO random winners for this manly card contest. I have two mini stamp sets from CTMH in my freezing little hands to send out tonight! Thank you ALL for playing this challenge. I love seeing everyone's artwork and blog hopping to those who have blogs!

(drum roll, please... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrattattttatattttaaatata....)

Winner #1: Amyre -Fiskateer #343's "Manly Collage Card"

and Winner #2: Manna's "Manly Metal Card"

Amrye & Manna - please email me at inkysmiles @ gmail dot com with your mailing
info and I will send these babies on their way to you! :)

Sketch Challenge {007} & Viewer's Choice

*EDITED* - Slight change - Voting will open on THURSDAY morning. I need to wait to post the entries until Wednesday afternoon. E.

So it's been a while since I gave away some treats.... I thought I would give an opportunity for you to win a treat! Yesterday I posted about "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" and this morning the sun is shining on the snow that fell yesterday and last night. It's sparkly and BEAUTIFUL! I just looooove bright cheery days when the ground is covered with fresh snow.

Here's the sketch I drew up (actually, I drew it up on paper and then re-created it in PSE today for the blog) to create a really fun card which I will show you Wednesday :)

1.) Use this sketch, create a fun, "wintery" (does not have to be Christmas) card
2.) Send UNMARKED photo to me via email.
3.) Voting opens on Wednesday, Dec 5th and you will have until Sunday, Dec 9th to round up your friends to vote for your card. Post your votes ONLY to the post of artwork.

Twist - this time I am not putting names on the photos... I will number each photo and voters will cast their votes not knowing who's card it is. Once a winner is chosen, I will post the creator's names with their artwork.

The prize will be some American Crafts ribbon (mini spools) and a package of Double Churned Scrapboard Alphabets (Vanilla Bean/naked - 209 pieces of alphas, numbers, and punctuation, retail $12.99) by We R Memory Keepers.

Good luck and happy creating!

ANNNNNNNNDDDDDD.............. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the responses.... I really got a good chuckle out of some of them... especially one....

I've also chosen a SECOND winner .... "Stefany who smacked Barney" - all because you SMACKED BARNEY!!!! LOL! YOU ROCK!!!! (Barney drives me NUTS!) Kind of ironic considering that your favorite color is purple! LOL!!!

Nicole - send me your address so I can put this stamp set in the mail...
Stefany - send me your address and I will send you a couple of mini rolls of WONDERFUL American Crafts ribbon.

If you're dying for this stamp set ... don't die just yet... I have a couple more of this set (both new) in my stash to give out over the next few months :)

Thank you ALL for your support of my blog! I truly appreciate it!

Keep smiling & get inky!

Midweek Blog Candy Winners

It actually only took us 4 hrs and about 40 minutes to clean the room. It didn't look as bad in the one before pic.... oh man, you didn't see that nothing was in order and that I didn't know what I had tucked away in miscellaneous totes and drawers. Thankfully Brent is a good work master... I had pulled everything out and just got overwhelmed with the piles of stuff. He was good at crackin the whip to make me decide what to do with things and keep on truckin'. If I had to do it by myself it would have taken days while I reminisced over bits and pieces of scrap papers and stickers and "oh that would be great for ____ project!" LOL!

Anyway.. I am so glad to have at least the sorting and organizing done! Brent said I am grounded from catalogs and parties! He also said, "Now make sure you pick up as you go so it doesn't turn into this again!" I love that man! :)

I've picked 4 random winners:

  • Yvonne W.
  • Selina
  • Kelly Jo
  • Jessi Gribbin

Please email me at inkysmiles @ gmail . com with your mailing address!

Midweek Blog Candy.... MMMM!

Saturday night I spent some time with Brent cleaning out my studio/office. We literally pulled everything out of the "craft" side of the office and did part 1 of a "Clean Sweep" of the room. Have you seen the show? It's FABULOUS! They take EVERYTHING out of a room, furniture, accessories, JUNK, etc., and then repaint and redecorate the room and load things back into the room. The things that don't find a home in the room are either donated to charity, sold at their garage sale, or hauled to the dump.

We got as far as hauling it all out of the room, sorting it all, and then put it back in place in the room. Brent even MOPPED the floors for me! YAYYYY! I decided to forgo the whole repainting and decorating part of things because I don't want to spend the money until I know exactly what I want to do with the space. I know I want some sort of wall cabinets above my workstation and where the G. Washington picture hangs... but not much else.... I am going to bug Brent to put the rest of the handles and knobs back on my desk before this weekend.

Soooooooo, we did get it sorted and dejunked. I have a lot of misc items to put on ebay and a bunch to give away, too! I've got a few little party favor "grab bags" of fun things and each one is slightly different.

How many hours did it take us from start to finish to get the studio/office to the
clean point it's at right now? Leave your guess on this post and I will draw 4 winners on Sunday. (If you leave an annonymous comment, please at least give initials or a first name and last initial so that I can identify you if you win.)

Happy Guessing!

Ice Cream Girls

Baby, it's HOT, HOT, HOT outside... We're on day #16 of 98 degrees F and above. Brent's weather station said it reached 101.67 at home yesterday. THAT'S HOT!! We jumped in the pool after work, hoping to cool off, but the water was 92 F!~ SO much for nice and cool~! I left the cover off the pool today to see if I could cool it down a bit for this afternoon's swim with some friends.

We watched a fun show on the Food Network Channel on Saturday afternoon involving a New Flavor Competition for Haagen Dazs ice cream. The flavor that won was called Sticky Toffee Pudding. MMM ice cream, and a new flavor to try!!! Later that evening we were grocery shopping and picked up a pint. Not my fav flavor... Thankfully we also picked up a pint of Creme Brulee to try, too! OH ... That is one DELICIOUS ice cream! Nothing like smooth, creamy, ICE CREAM on a HOT, HOT, HOT day!

I foudn this little test online at BlogThings and discovered that:

You Are A Chocolate Ice Cream Girl

Dramatic. Powerful. Flirty.

Leave me a post telling me what flavor ice cream girl you are and I will draw a name on Saturday for some COOL CANDY :)
